Christmas Time!

Yes I know that Christmas stuff has been up in the stores since just before Halloween, but my husband would have been annoyed if I had bought any of it before it was even November. However, now that we are in the 11th month, I am happy to announce that I own a large, fake tree. I have always wanted a fake tree because quite frankly, real ones don’t last long enough. I want the tree up the day after Thanksgiving and I refuse to take it down before the first weekend of January.
Some people will say that a fake tree is ridiculous. Really? Quantitatively, how much more ridiculous can you get than bringing a cut tree inside your house in the dead of winter to hang plastic sparkly things and useless little lights all over it? Does using a fake tree really add a whole lot of ridiculousness to the equation?
My husband likes to remind me that the whole tree thing is a pagan ritual to which I say “bring on the paganism!” Christmas has really become quite a mish-mash of traditions and I think that means we get to chose which ones hold meaning for us and which ones we can live without. That is why, this year, I will turn on my fake fire in my real fireplace, put on my Mariah Carey Christmas CD, plug in my pre-lighted plastic tree, and hang stuff all over it and I am going to revel in every ridiculous second of it.

Douche burger anyone?

I love FAIL blog. Really there is not much in life I enjoy more than judging others and laughing at their stupid, stupid, mistakes. This one is especially good.

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

You know what else is awesome, makes people happy, gives one a sense of purpose, cures cancer, and makes you rich? VOTING! Ok so maybe it does not cure cancer and make you rich but it will get you a free cup of coffee at any Starbucks today which is full of cancer fighting antioxidants and will save you a bit of money making out that much richer, so its not really that much of a stretch.
Anyway, quit reading this and go vote!

Remember when we thought this was awesome...

I remember waking up every Saturday morning and being SOO excited to watch this! If I didn't get to watch it (because of Saturday morning Garage Sailing with my Mom or something), I would HAVE TO tape it later. I was so into the show that afterward, I would often dress up like a Power Ranger (the Red Ranger because I had a red Chicago Bulls jacket at the time) and using sticks that I fashioned into Power Swords or Power Axes, fight the evil monsters (Trees, bushes, or Ant piles) that Rika sent at me. Sometimes I was even fortunate enough to get a friend or two from the neighborhood to play with me. I was still always the Red Ranger because of my Jacket, forcing them to be the Blue Ranger or Yellow Ranger (the Black Ranger was always reserved for our black friend Marshal, whether he was there or not... which resulted in someone always having to use a girl's voice). No one was ever the Green Ranger. He was waaay too cool to be. He always just helped us out at the last moment (in the form of a falling branch or big rock that smashed whatever it was that we were fighting). And how could we not be SUPER EXCITED to play such roles with such an AWESOME show like you see above. Hmm...

Irony

So Saturday night my husband and I got into a conversation/argument about what irony is. He explained it one way and then I gave examples of what I thought irony was. I explained something such as an intended outcome vs. reality in which he argued that that was an unfortunate event, not irony. Ironically enough on the wikipedia website my definition is often argued as to weather it IS irony based on older definitions. But my definition is accepted so I win! Well, we agreed that we both won really... So I have here some fun links so you can read about irony and ironic situations. Just for fun.

Wikipedia Irony

This is kind of amusing, apparently it is a guide on how white people can be ironic, seems a tad racy though for those with less of a sense of humor. Actually the whole blog site makes you giggle a little and mutter to yourself "oh my god."
